ZaporozhieZaporozhye is an important center of railway connection. The most part of Crimea direction trains go through our city stations. Zaporozhye is green city. There are many plants and open water reservoirs as for the industrial city. Streets, parks and squares of the city are rolling in blooming trees. There are many shadowy lanes at the bank of the Dnipro. So called Sotsgorod is situated right after Dniproges. This is the kingdom of architecture style named Stalin Empire style: houses like cakes with eclectic modeling, columns, porticos and fountains in boundless yards.
Concert hall named after M.I. Glikna with its calm, grand and austere architecture is the sight of Zaporozhye. Zaporozhye Music Drama Theater named after Magar with it grand columns crowned with figures of collective farmer and worker – the “saints” of industrial era – is the decoration of the city. Dniproges elegant “horseshoe” is very beautiful from any point. There is a quite Park of Metallurgists at the left bank and Park of Energetics with branchy crowns of lime-trees and poplars on the right. They are situated on both sides of Dniproges. Khortitsa Island is the national pride of Ukraine and extremely beautiful reserve is situated in the boundary of the city. Khortitsa Island is the unique joining of flora and fauna and it is considered the green pearl of Dnipro. All types of landscape characteristic for Ukraine are represented at Khortitsa: steppe, forest, steppe-forest, flux, meadows and rocky mountains in the Northern part of Island. The fauna of Island is very versatile. The Southern part of Khortitsa is the zone of total reserve. The Island is connected with the city by Preobrazhnskyi’s bridges, one of the most beautiful bridges in Europe. Construction of two more bridges to unload the traffic system of the city is planned in the near future. At the beginning of third millennium complex renovation began in Zaporozhye. Restored fronts of building in the new part of the city opened their beauty to citizens and restored Shevchenko’s boulevard in front of city hall and the park near it became the favorite place for walking. At night new fronts are neatly lighted with color floodlights. Housing construction under individual projects is regenerating in the city. New generation of architects of Zaporozhye is looking for vivid style and constructively rethink rich architectural heritage. Zaporozhye is really tourist city. Highway Moscow – Simferopol goes through it. |
